Round 8:
Versus St Cats White at Blackstone
Result Lost 2-5
Goal scorers JH14 + LB7
Man of the Match JL5
It was a very start-stop type of game and the Dragons were never in full stride.
Good goals from reliable LB7 and a forceful strike into the back of the net by JH15 put some respectability onto the scoreboard after St Cats raced away in the first half with a scoring blitz.
Captain JL5 played his best game of the season + did a lot of work to get the ball to the attacking zone. Great effort! More of this + your game will improve even more.
Round 9:
Versus Fassifern Cobras at Blackstone
Result Lost 1-2
Goal scorer JCP2
Man of the Match WM13
The Dragons had lost their mojo from the first half of the season and it showed today.
While they kept the Cobra strikers goalless in the second half, the damage had already been done.
The venomous yellow shirts had only 9 players but still managed to out-play the red shirts.
Another start-stop performance and the Dragons couldn’t break the Cobra Defence until late in the match.
The Dragon defenders did a good job but it was WM13 that ran and ran and ran all game and tried his best to tackle the opponents and supply quality ball to the Dragon strikers.
It was a real team player effort. Keep it up WM13, you are needed in the team.
Back to having a big training session to iron-out our strategy and get running.
Round 10:
Versus Rosewood at Blackstone
Result Lost 0-5
Man of the Match CS12
Having defeated the Black and White shirts in Round 3, the Dragons were confident and looking forward to a good game.
Unfortunately we used all of our energy before the game and did not play good football.
Although we had our frontline striker and best defensive midfielder absent on holidays, we had the talent to challenge for the win.
Losing TR11 early in the match to an injury didn’t assist the Dragons and Rosewood ran away big winners.
This was the worst game of the season for Blackstone, notwithstanding the result as ALL but one player showed low interest to be on the field.
Harsh but fair criticism.
CS12 told Coach MT he was going to run like Ronaldo during the match today and in parts he did.
Well, if Ronaldo had a broken ankle! He He, just joking. CS12 showed more grunt and desire to get the ball for his team.
A good effort and we will be hoping for more from CS12 for the rest of the season.
